We have the best raytracer in the universe.

We have the nicest and most helpful community.

We soon have a great homepage
(well... not that the current one isn't great...)

But we don't have a simple logo!?

Isn't it about time that POV-Ray gets a logo?
To make POV-Ray famous and well known I think
it would be a step in the right direction if
we got a nice easy recognizable official logo.

Should we choose one by making a competition?
(oh, no... more competitions...)

What do you think?

Greetings,

Rune S. Johansen

I always thought that the POV-Ray now and checkered plane were our logo.
What we need is a mascot, a cute, friendly, little, blobby guy that
looks cool. One that dances, etc. and proclaims POV as the best!

I personaly believe that Pov-Ray is much too dignified a program
to require cheap cutesy publicity and marketing gimmicks such as you
describe. You may believe as you like and I will do the same.

Maybe so, but still, it would be cool. Plus, if you want more dignity, we
could make it reflective, with media and radiosity. (=

Something like the Pixar anglepoise lights would be good... but it's already
been done. Even so, something along on that line which can be animated to look
creature-like, showing really advanced modelling and texturing techniques
would be very impressive. The Pixar lights don't in anyway "cheapen" Pixar's
look - it just enhances it because it's done so well.

Ken

I was just about to post something on these lines. If someone
don't like POV they can go out and buy something else.
