When converting a 3DS file to POV I get allways some unwanted smoothed
triangles. Does anybody knows the angle-settings to use to solve this
problem. BTW all angles in the 3DS-mesh are 90 degrees.

Thats a problem of your converter, not of POV-Ray itself. To help you the name of the
converter is needed - or contact its author.

I think he pretty well said it with the subject :-)
"3DWin to POV" (well, it's not POV!!! ;-)
In answer, I have no idea, I haven't used the program. I'm sure someone
else has though!

Well if you just want to remove the normals to unsmooth the triangles, I
wrote a little program for Ken for that purpose. (and if I don't miss
my guess, he ended up not using it in the final image because people
complained that it didn't look right unsmoothed). Basically it searches
your source for smooth_triangles and converts them...
