I was trying to trace the code given by Micheal Andrews for his Hazy
Days image and I keep getting the error:
> File init error.
> Error opening output file.
I assume that its referring to the output image file, but other scenes
have been rendering fine, so I don't understand.
Any ideas?

I just tried the file. When saving from my browser I named
it Hazy.pov . After opening the file in pov 3.1 I hit the render
button and away it went. I guess the only thing I can think of
is have you saved the file as a.pov file? I'm not sure it really
matters as long as you saved it somewhere in one of the know
paths that pov looks for. You might want to try saving the source
again and as I did save as a plain text file and name it hazy.pov.
It's all I can think of. Good Luck

Well, I copied the text and pasted it into a new file and it worked
fine...go figure.I'd still be interested in knowing what exactly may have
caused my error.
Thanks,
Darcy

I hit this problem with the Mac version, and it turned out it was
because I had the file locked. Make sure you have write permission
(whatever OS you're using...) to the output file.
If there is no previous output image file, then... I dunno.

I had this problem once. It turned out that I had accidentally deleted the
directory that POV was putting finished images in. Since the directory
didn't exist, POV couldn't write the file.
