    But few of those non-Christians would hate Christianity so much that
they would refuse to buy a computer book simply because the title contained
a word that was partly associated with the Christian religion. It takes a

This no more has anything to do with the original idea of my post.  I
never talked about hatred.

I think i was able to make the point i was trying to make so i will drop

Were talking about such a teeeeny minority that it hardly bears thinking
about, you can't please all the people all the time.

    Exactly my point. As opposed to "more than 50% of the world
population"...

    Much less than the number of people who passionately hate the phrase
"for Dummies", and look how successful they are...

I dont like that one.

The reason, all documentation about
povray is how to achive this or that effect for
creating anything.

But one of the interesting appliances for povray
is - while there ist not much "howto" on
that - is to test a creation againt reality.

For example, create a piece of furniture, and then
see how it looks it positioned in the garden and
illuminated by the sun.

I would suggest

"1. Povray for artists" emphaisising on extreme realism.
"2. Povray for designers" emphasising on realisitc sumulation.
"3. Povray for programmers" emphasinsing performance issues.
"4. Povray for newbies" emphasising on many examples.

I would by Voumes 2 and 3. I think, we teckies are the vast
majority of the povray users even though the most famos
entries in the galleries dont come from us.

Hi,

As a dutchman I like to make my point:
First no religion may claim the name "Bible", because there are several
who use this book in its own version.
If our "community" wants to use this name for the description of his
life-rules
(for this purpose the bible is used by every religion), I donot see any
objections or
grounds to object!
One thing is for sure: it is "The only manual that must be read!"
And even that cannot be said about the "Bible".

A bigger problem with "Bible" it that it is such a cliche. Surely you (we?)
can do better.

If you're still looking for book titles (didn't have time to read all the
messages to figure out), how about "With a Trace: <whatever you want>"

For example:

"With a Trace: Modeling & Development using POV-ray"

I got this idea when I tried to look for a book on POV-ray on bn.com and
only found a fiction book called "Without a Trace" and books on how to make
ray tracers...

Hallelujah, or should I not use that in this context?  Anyway, this message
is for Mitchell Waite.

I have been trying to track down the publisher of what I thought was the
Desk Top Publisher's Bible and maybe this will work.  I have been searching
for the book ever since I 'lent' it, a good few years ago, to someone who I
suspect never even bothered to read it.

Having started my e-life with cpm/Wordstar/Supercalc/Dbase II in the depths
of Darfur, I found the DTP said all a busy development economist ever
needed to know about design, not to mention kerning & leading and so many
other things.  Besides the laid-back west coast approach was a delight.

Amazon says the Desktop Publishing  Bible (I may have got the name a bit
wrong) was one of yours but it is not on the list on your website and I
want to check it is the book I am looking for.  Every chapter was written
by a different author with the writer's biosnap (very laid-back west coast)
at the start of each one.  Have I found it after all these years?

As a lifelong enemy of the Microsoft colossus, I much enjoyed reading your
