I recently tried to install MegaPov for my Povray and encountered a problem.
I installed the program correctly (i think) in the proper directory
(c:\program files\POV-Ray For Windows v3.1\bin. I downloaded to that
directory, extracted in that dir, attempt to run from that dir. However
when I try to execute the program at the title screen w/pic of spheres it
returns an error message "Editor Error"
Editor DLL initialisation failed [could not resolve 'ExternalLoadFile']

a second message box then appears:

See the 'Built-In Editors' section in the help file

I have no such section included in my help file. When MegaPov continues, it
goes to the interface except open, new, save and all the editing features
are disabled. Ive tried re-downloading both pov and megapov with no
success. Please help me,
I would be greatly indebted....

Wrong group to ask that question (best asked at povray.general or
povray.windows) but the answer is most likely that you have a pre-3.1g version
to begin with.

That would be the CodeMax editor in WinMegaPov (or official WinPOV), can be
found in [POV-Win ?] button.
Most other platforms don't have a built-in editor.
Anyhow, I think it's because you are running an earlier version of the
official POV-Ray for Windows, such as 3.1e. If that's the case then you'll
either need to use two sets of codemax.dll and cmedit.dll files (maybe just
the cmedit.dll) from both versions and switch them out each time you change
which executable you use... OR... easiest thing to do is get the latest 3.1g
version of WinPOV (POV-Ray for Windows).
Hope I'm right. I'm already forgetting which DLL files are used.

I think i had that problem too... i just fixed it by putting the binaries into
the bin/ directory inside the origonal povray directories...
I could be wrong though...

I thought this was the list to discuss povray utilities, even problems... it's
not povray the problem is with, it's megapov...

hope this helps

Yep, it is... I emailed Christopher pointing that out (occurred to me by that
time to suggest the povray.unofficial.patches group too) plus that it's most
likely a version conflict between the official and unofficial dll files.

megapov is another version of pov, not a utility. a utility is usually
a separate program that does something pov can't and makes into
something pov can use. it also includes macros, complex inc files and
the like. scoll down the list of other post in here to see what is
appropriate.
