For some reason I was inspired to try and model some of the toys I used to play
with when I was younger, and decided to work with "Lincoln Logs" this time. I
was able to find some resources that gave the actual dimensions for the logs and
worked from there to get the other elements.
Nothing terribly new in terms of techniques in this scene. For the floor, I was
trying to make it look like the "Pergo" we have in our living room, so it has a
real-ish looking wood grain, but I added a thin layer of shiny stuff with some
scratches in it as well. The rug is a reuse from an earlier toy room scene and
is made using the Rope_sys macros in a spiral. The bucket uses my paper
generation tools and maps an image of an old set (from France!) onto the
cylinder with some perturbations to make it look like it has been wrinkled a bit
with age.

Sorry, I tried to upload a 3kx2k version and it was too large...
Here's a 1024x768 version

I remember those. Had a lot of fun with it as a kid.
I actually combined it with Legos, Thinkertoys and Meccano to make some
strange constructions.
Also used as target for my SmashUp car and some Tonka trucks...

I don't know what it is about 'Lincoln logs' but I tackle them a while back. I
didn't do any thing as good as you have. After I made the logs, gables, and the
decking planks, I spent a lot of time trying to create a system to make a
complete wall with door & windows of any size easier. It did work out, it just
got more complicated.
I guest it runs it the family. When my dad helped me with my first set of
'Lincoln logs' I remember telling him my plans and he told me that a part was to
long to go where I wanted. So I said we'll just cut it off! I did grow up to be
a carpenter...
Have Fun!

You inspired me to put one of my log cabins out into the woods!
