I took a break from my sci fi scenes and started playing around with Mantaflow
(which is pretty amazing) in Blender, ending up with this simple water flow
simulation. The results inspired me to build this Zen fountain scene in POV-Ray.
I modeled and UV mapped the rocks and bamboo tube (and baked water simulation)
in Blender. The flower is from xfrog. I converted everything to mesh2 via
PoseRay, positioned the meshes in the scene, and traced down some water
droplets. After a couple of days of fiddling with lighting, textures, focal blur
and scattering media, here is the final result.

Hi Robert,
what a beautifully composed image! It took 2 seconds to recognize your style -
thanks for it...
Of course I have some smaller remarks - for such a calm zen-like fountain the
wetness of the stones is too uniform and or the drops aren't fitting. Similar is
true for the bamboo pipe...
Otherwise a beautiful image - needed after the shock of the server crash.
Norbert

Beautiful. How did you get that lovely background?

Beautifully done! Way beyond my simple skills...

the image has/creates a lovely "mood", v nice.
(shouldn't the water run off the stones?)
regards, jr.

Thank you Norbert, I'm glad you like it :)

After reading your remarks these things seemed obvious, so I revised several
things, including smaller droplets, improvements in the bamboo and rock
textures, and subtle adjustments to the lighting and mist. I think this version
is much better so thanks very much for your critique.

Excellent image! The water seems to stream to the front as water should
do. This is the best modelling of streaming water I noticed so far. I
would use a little bit less dof at the background (HDRI-image?).
Best regards
Michael

Nice work! The overall look is very calming and peaceful, and everything just
looks... great. All the colors and textures blend into a really nice composition
too.
At first, I thought the water from the pipe looked a bit too 'thick and syrup-y'
where it cascades over the stone-- but even still-images of ocean waves look
somehow different from seeing them 'in motion.' And your water hasn't had time
to become turbulent anyway.
Excellent!
