Obviously inspired by recent posts containing superellipsoids and chrome
spheres, I decided to do some experimenting.  This is my first render using
trace(), and I'm not completely happy with the raindrops but it's a start.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.  I used random numbers for the red
textured blocks and sphere placement.

Have you tried 'caustics' with the raindrops?  They help to give the bright
focused spot typically seen.  Perhaps also add slight light attenuation to
the raindrop material (fade_distance, fade_power, fade_colour), but not too
much.

Here it is with caustics and photons on the spheres (barely noticable in
this render).  Maybe I should turn the caustics down a bit ...
