This is my first scene with photons. I used "spacing 0.02" in the
declaration block, with this on the Rocket only:
photons { // photon block for Rocket
      target 1.0
      refraction on
      reflection on
    }

No photons declared for the other objects in the scene. I like the result,
but I'm not sure what effect is due to the photons, so I'm in the process
of re-rendering it without them to compare.

Trivia - there are 52 reflection levels, but I decided to set max trace to
15 to speed things up a bit.

Any suggestions, content, technique or otherwise?

BTW, the environment is an office map generated by Jaime Vives Piqueres.

Thanks,
Mike

Very artistic, except having an office reflected in your solar system
seems somehow anticlimactic.

As Darren said "Very artistic". Your layout is very good but the
photon effect is subtle to my tired old eyes. I would like to see it
rendered without photons as well. I made a rocket very similar to
yours but out of aluminium.

Makes me think of Slartibartfast - which isn't a bad thing IMO. ;-)

Your floor is very reflective. It makes the protons barely visible, if at all.
Try rendering again but without photons and see if there is a notable
difference. Rename your current image to preserve it and make it easier to compare.

Well, not if you're a rocket scientist ;) I was going for a tabletop
display look, so I made it an indoor scene. Any other ideas for the
surrounding? I'm open to suggestions...

You're right, I'm thinking about changing the tabletop surface. Here's
another render, and you can see a slight effect in the shadow of the rocket
(near Earth's reflection). I like the effect, and if I change the surface I
think it will be more visible.

That statement is so silly it's not even worth responding to. But I will
anyway, since I'm from Baton Rouge and I don't want anyone to think we have
that mindset. Very, very few people from there are so narrow minded. Maybe
no one should have fought against Hitler. I'm sure we'd all be living in a
much more peaceful world.

A starfield springs to mind. It might need large brightly coloured nebulae
to be visible, though...

Or a planetarium/observatory type building? Where you could see the
reflection of a large telescope in the planets? Something like the
middle picture of http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Telescope

That's a grand idea. It also gave me another idea - maybe have everything
floating in freefall inside the Shuttle or ISS? Now to get to work ...
