This is an attempt to make brushed metal texture which does not depand on
surface direction. It is not perfect yet, but I hope you will give me
sugestions on how to make it better.

I think the brushes should be less obvious (maybe a little more random
too - not such big strokes) but other than that, it's terrific! I've
longed for a brushed-metal texture for some time. Excellent work.

Promising. I'll be picky though. The test objects look as if they might have
come off a lathe. Scoring marks should be concentric with major axes for
cylinder, cone and sphere. Brushing is usually used for flat surfaces, and
because of the way it's done would be a series of non-concentric circles of
the same size depending on the radius of the brush and the path of the
tool - sometimes linear, sometimes circular, sometimes random.

speaking of objects coming off a lathe.
most metals that are shaped by a lathe, usually have this sort of
texture, with concentric, overlaping marks.
