Not because of any povray prowess (I have none),
but because it is based on a photo by the great
American photographer, Walker Evans.

Needs work but I really enjoyed making it.

Nice :) But something is wrong here... I thing that walls are to clear. Yes
I see normals, and textures but still something is un-realistic... maybe
adding more environment and adjusting radiosity or using HDRI environmeny
will help?

Perhaps your subconscious mind has noticed the vast reflected empty space in
the crystals.

High!

No, not really... the whole thing looks too "clean" - and to me (who at
the moment cannot recall any Walker Evans picture - is it the guy who in
the 1920s shot that famous scene of a gang of skyscraper construction
workers sitting in a row on a steel girder hanging from a crane high
above New York, having breakfast? ) it appears also to me that the
contrast is too low...

beta reply

Thanks Raf!

Your spot on about the textures and my normals.
It was a learning experience for me.

I'm posting a message about reality in povray.general.
Check it out, if you care to.

I like the un-realism. It reminds me of a stage set.

HDRI? My bad. What's that.

I spent a bunch of time tring to
get the reflections in the windows 'right', but gave up.

Thanks, again.

Peter

Yadgar,

Yea, your right, it looks to "clean".
That's always been a problem for me with pov,
how to 'dirty' an image up.

The contrast is an issue as well.

The photo your thinking of is by Hines. Or is it Abbott?
The best thing about Evans' pics is that you can order
a copy of them from the US gov. An 'original' Evans print, for a
nominal fee!

later,
Peter

Spelling does not count.
I was told there would be no math.
