Very atmospheric,

I especially like sky and lighting - please supply code.

Beside I enjoy the background drama between the Mandalorian team and the "evil
boss" Kathleen Kennedy.

light is only 2 degrees off the horizon... srgb <0.9170,0.9170,0.6780>.
the background is an exr probe... added some emission (light color) to
the finish and i think i'm stuck using radiosity, because i couldn't
reach all the stuff in shadows with fill lights. tatooine is in a binary
system... so there are some challenges ahead

Very good start. I like the atmosphere already.

hey thanks... how about something a bit more dramatic! looks_like on
both the sources with high emission made atmospherics in background
pop...and the halo on the 2nd sun. 2nd sun also injected some need light
into the compound.

i think my next challenge is doing something to the ground. if anyone
knows of something procedural that would look good at low viewing angle.
wavy / ripply in some spots smooth-ish in others... post away!

There are some desert scenes in the IRTC from August 2008. The topic was
"Desert". The given codes are still available:
http://ftp.uni-erlangen.de/pub/graphics/irtc/
May be dg_desrt is the most fitting for your purposes, but I didn't
checked the code now. May be it is just a hightfield.

Best regards
Michael

I can only chime in to what the others said - this is pretty cool already!

Yes, dramatic!

For the ground, how about this. In the scene I am currently working on
since October last year (no info is provided until further notice ;-) )
I use a piment_pattern controlling several image_maps of stony grounds.
The pigment_pattern itself is also a stony ground image_map. Then
uv_mapped on a mesh, but an appropriate height_field would also do.
