I'll need to wait for more material to show up.

I think I should start with something easier, planetary gears (epicyclic
gears). Then work my way up to something with more parts.

The gears are generated from a web site,
http://hessmer.org/gears/InvoluteSpurGearBuilder.html

I download the .dxf file, feed it into the Plasma Cutter, grind some of
the rough edges.

I model a gear tooth, from the .dxf file, into a prism{}.

The calendar looks like two rings that slide on each other, or am I
seeing it wrong? Gears in stone?

The gears would be much more impressive if they were moving.

I hate it when I am unable to find back what I am looking for :-/

If I remember well, it consists of three geared wheels, one involute. I
must have a picture somewhere as I intended years ago to make an
animation from it. I keep looking...

I like the first one. I would need to make the pictures for it to have
meaning, not my best area for modeling.
