Time for a little update. The amphitheatre is now virtually complete.
For the first time I used the pavement texture, to good effect I think.
Fun fact: the roof tiles use a cell texture where the pigments have been
taken from real life tiles in the Mediterranean region. To the left, the
onset of the road towards the Greek city section.

As always, comments welcome.

Nice. I think, you can get a lot of additional decoration ideas, when
looking at the photos of the ancient Greek rock cave building in Petra,
Jordan:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Petra

They had amazing floor mosaics, wall paintings, and of course all sorts
of decoration.

I know. However, that has to wait for a very next phase - maybe never -
or at least when I start a story-scene sequence based on this location.
It is not essential now.

Some canvas roof for a bit of shade might come in handy in that climate.

Indeed. Look what great expandable roofs the Romans had on their colosseums.

It is something I have been thinking about and which I might implement
later. For the time being, spectators are provided with parasols by the
staff.

Or for free, like the bread inside ancient Roman collosseums was given
free to the people, too. The emperors did that in order to gain favor of
the masses. So Thomas de Groot would gain the favor of his (virtual)
people... ;-)

No, I have no part in this at all (happily). The local Satrap, who
represents the Sultan in Neoilion, is entirely responsible. I am
informed that parasols are not free indeed and that bringing your own is
punished by a jail sentence and twenty lashes.

It is looking good. But where is C.M.O.T. Dibbler? I am sure I saw him
earlier. ;-)

How long did it take to render and how big are your scene files? If you
don't mind me asking.
