[bows and trips over robes' hem. Sounds of tearing/swearing]

It helps to bring out the geometry for me near the lower
part of the image where no shadows are visible.

Yes, that was one of the reasons why I chose this option.

A glance from outside/above. Practical as they are, the people of
Gancaloon have used a former quarry to build the theatre.

Quite an impressive landscape. A great setting for a picnic. :-)

Given the number of seats you may want to increase the
capacity for entrance/exit a bit.

Nah, they are well-behaved people. And I wonder if any security
enforcement system would exist.

Maybe some buttress members along the long walls which are not part of a
box ? or prismatic walls (wider at base, thiner at top)

Anyway, the theatre is only for the educated upper class :-0

Buttresses are planned (before the walls cave in).

As always, credits for the texture of the Gancaloon landscape goes to
Jaime Vives Piqueres.

The 'quarry' is a simple inverted cone - heavily deformed and processed
of course - differenced from the height_field. Obviously, the theatre is
also differenced from the landscape :-)

I suppose that the less wealthy inhabitants go above the theatre to
watch the plays, if they feel so inclined. Those 'seats' are free I am
told, and it is more difficult to throw rotten tomatoes from there.
