Is that with aid of Poser or without?

Might need a beard for some client of mine soon.

Without Poser.

My own beard is coarser too indeed :-)

I am messing around presently. It is all a matter of finding the correct
length/diameter ratio. If I increase the diameter too much in this
example, the hairs look like a bunch of deformed cones and loose their
hair-like aspect.

True. Only when the cheeks are shaven ;-)

I am bound by the 'beard cap' provided by Poser. Alternative is to make
my own beard cap which covers also the cheeks. Possible, but a bit more
work. Presently, it is the concept I am exploring.

Some further iterations further in the concept with a couple more
randomizations.

I trim my moustache a bit more than my beard.
Having it as long as this guy almost certainly means eating hairs for
dinner (that they are still attached does not make life more pleasant).

See also #5 in
http://www.cracked.com/blog/a-guide-to-the-modern-moustache/ :-)

but you are right of course. I do the same.

A further development of this technique needs to discriminate between
different face sections. This will be done with help from evalpig() and
colour coded beard caps.
