In this case, with the vertical pillars being an important element, it
seems a perfectly valid choice of camera.

Yes. Also, y of camera position and look at are identical. For a
landscape that would be rather dull but here it works well as there is
no visible horizon. Some camera tilt would beg for Dr John's device ;-)

Nice image.
I just have a little critique (: the feet of Cathy do not seem to touch
the ground, it lacks shadows maybe.

Wrong. They /do/ touch. She is standing mostly on the black tile so any
shadow is invisible indeed; and that part of the scene is only
illuminated indirectly.

Very good indeed. :-D
I wonder why there is haze when the sun is quite high in the sky?
What did you use for the frescos and who is the cloaked person looking
at them?
It calls for a caption or sub-title. Mine would be:
"Well, favourite sister. Have you done anything interesting since your
last visit?"
(And do tell him not to eat the fish. Like last time. I got into no end
of trouble.)

I don't know the climate where Cathy lives, but when the northern trade winds
stir up the Sahara desert, the sky here in the Caribbean can be hazy at any time
of day.

So I take it the world survived the Martian invasion.

The radiosity looks very good here, much better than in your drafts. FWIW,
Cathy does not appear to be floating to me.

You're right, I had forgotten about the Harmattan.
