I'm on vacation this week and so "playing" with POV-Ray.
The attached image is based upon the 16th century drawing
http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Stefano_della_Bella_-_Death_on_the_Battlefield_-_Google_Art_Project.jpg
, a 1951-2 photograph my father took during his service in the Korean
War and several of my daughter's recommendations.

I have a hunch that the aspect ratio is a bit off.

Good eye Christoph! There is an intentional 1.3*x stretch relative to
the original sketch. Idea was to make the horse more "hunched," ;-), or
hound/dog like.

The problem is that this also distorts the rider.

I like this very much. It is like a sculpture of welded wires.
The rider looks more manly than in the original.

True. You've done much more than needed for me, as a POV-Ray user, to
get you a non-stretched version of the rider and horse. Deed attached, I
still owe you more than a few cups of coffee for your work on POV-Ray!

Thanks! The technique is the same gimp-dotify, isosurface based one I
described here late last year.

Thank you! Indeed the shapes in the rider and horse are mostly wire
like. Three sets in fact, slightly shifted from each other and textured
to get more a more dramatic electric spark, fiery effect. The electric
arcing effect being my daughter's idea for something different with
respect to images of death approaching.
