Hi Folks,

Well, over the bank-holiday weekend I finally downloaded DAZ|Studio and a
bunch of the free content and started playing around. Then I saw some of

could afford some items ... :-)

So, after some fumbling around here's my first real (proto)scene.

I must say, FlyerX deserves a lot of kudos for PoseRay - it took my objects
from the DAZ|Studio export and converted them flawlessly to POVRay objects.
I made a couple of cosmetic texture alterations (mainly to the hair), built
a scene to display the figure and rendered. That easy.

Apart from a couple of folding artifacts around the knees I'm quite pleased
with the image. I had to add 'hollow' to the figure object so that the
transparent part of the hair worked right with the ground fog and added
'double_illuminate' just for good measure.

Converted in PoseRay 3.9.0

    That's nice. It reminds me of a sci-fi film that I once watched, (early 
80's(?) and I CANNOT remember what it was called), but mostly, the 
background to the film was just pure white. I think I remember that you 
couldn't even see the horizon line between sky and ground.

    Nice composition with this image. It looks 'right'to me.

Thanks for the comments. There have been 'white rooms' in several films,
'The Matrix' most recently that I've seen. It's a fairly standard prop for
'strange or alien place' :-)

I've rerendered the scene with a much subdued background, slightly better
pose, modified hair and higher res texture maps (I realise now I accidently
exported lower res maps from PoseRay in the earlier image - novice mistake).
I think it's a slight improvement overall.

I really liked the first image. The blue light gave a certain feel and depth 
to the image which seems lacking in the new one. Also, the new, warm hair 
color seems out of place compared to all the other colors used in the image, 
which are all fairly cool.

Nevertheless, great image!

Looking at the two images again I can see your point. The original colours
add more 'mood' to the image. So, here attached is v3 with the updated pose
and textures but a return to the earlier colours. I moved the horizon in a
bit which I think is better. The render looked a bit washed out so I
altered the contrast/brightness of the posted image.

Very nice image, Mike.  The only thing that is bothersome to me, even from the first
version, is the
position of her hair.  It seems to me that the section of her hair that is hanging
down on the far
side should be more vertical, instead of angling in towards her body.

BTW, what happens when she finally grabs the glowing orb?!?

Ah yes, this one is perfect!

Kyle has a good point about the hair though, but I must admit I never 
noticed that on my own.

     Nor did I, but I'm not so sure that it should all hang down vertically. 
Hair is very static, and 'catchy', so I would expect a fair amount of hair 
would be sticking to her clothing. So, maybe just some hair would be falling 
vertically?
