Hi,
While I was throwing up an example for a newbie, I (serendipity) found this
interpretation of a familiar icon...
What do you think? will Bill send me a million of bucks for the Windows 3000
logo? or a complaint?
This image is ALL that I can render with my old K-6, avoiding radiosity,
focal blur and area lights, but I'll really LOVE to see any variation or
modification (any good variation) posted here using my humble code, well,
the source is posted in povray.binaries.scene-files under Cube Stretched
subject,
waiting your comments, money, modifications

You'd rather expect he only can send you a million of *bugs* instead ;-)

most of them can be seen here:

Those are all the links. They are a bit different from Gimeno's, but the
idea is the same.
Enjoy, and comments are welcome.

really interesting all them,
how do you deform the boxes? it's a matrix trick?

Really nice! The best ones are IMHO the cell-shaded ones. Did you cell
shade them using a texture, slope map or is it some kind of geometry
trick (a la "painting" the edges with cylinders)?
The floor is also pretty impressive. Would you mind to share its texture?
Keep up the good work,
Florian

> Really nice!
Thanks!
The "cell-shading" is done by uv-mapping a pigment to the bicubic patches.
The pattern i used is the first hand made pigment using functions i ever
made, so i'm sort of proud of it :-).
The texture for the floor is a simple bitmap from
http://www.fromthedirt.com/textures/textures.html (link found in thread
"More Wings3D learning... (140Kb)").

Hi,
> how do you deform the boxes? it's a matrix trick?
Simply by not deforming boxes, but using 6 bicubic patches for 1 "box". The
control points are the same when using spheres (like in the first image),
but you need 4 times more control points to make bicubic patches. The space
between the shapes is done by scaling the "boxes" before putting them in
their final place.
