Well, they would be normally, but I was happy with this for now.

Nice texture on the spanner. Very convincing.

Heh, when I first read the subject, I was thinking, "Alien keys?"
I like the texturing! It still looks artificial, though -- perhaps more
specular and less ambient and a little less "normal" might make the
silver parts more realistic?

LOL! Yes, easily done Dan! :)

Yeah, I can see that, I'll give your suggestions a go, thanks.
These keys are to go with my lathe eventually, so they'll be smaller
in the final scene, and should add a little touch of 'realism' to it.
Glad you like them. :)

1. Nice!
2. The wire on the keys should be smoother and duller, it currently looks
"hammered", and wire generally doe not have that look

actually thinking about it, the coils on mine are composed of about 2 or
3 turns parallel sided, then it goes conical from about 5 turns
how many lights, 3 ?
maybe dim the high intensity one, and move it to reduce the glare off
the tile ?

Seeing the title, it hit me for the first time: Allen Keys, homonym for
Alan Keyes, the black conservative Catholic who ran for the Republican
presidential nomination in 1996 and 2000. Hmmmm.
Anyway, very nice image.

Is it just the parallel coils that are holding the keys? I haven't
got any here at the moment, so these were from memory.

One area light and one point light set at rgb <.8, .8, .8>. I was
trying to see if the point light might 'grey' the keys a little more.

Yes, I wasn't sure if I should keep that or not, but then, I'm sure
I've seen an example of this in RL. I'll re-render, and move it around
a little.
