Hi!

I have to do some work for school and decided to make a POV image. Here's
the current state of it.
The fish is from sPatch Object collection, created by Johann Snyman
http://mzone.mweb.co.za/residents/mwsny001/index.html . I will try one on my
own in hamapatch this weekend.

When rendering the scene in POVray, there's a "stack overflow excerption".
MegaPOV 1's output is fine (as fine as it can be after a 2-day-work of a
POV-newbie). As I found out by commenting out some parts of the scene, the
water causes the error. Here's its code:

 difference {
  sphere {<0,1,0>,.98}
  box {<-1,1.35,-1>,<2,3,2>}
  texture {pigment {Clear}}
  interior {fade_color ior 1.33}
  scale .999
  //photons {target refraction on reflection off}
  normal {ripples .4 frequency 1 scale .6}
 }

The photons statement is commented out because I didnt use them on the water
object when rendering the scene. Do you have any ideas to get rid of that
error?

Suggestions, tips, ... for the scene are welcome!

My plans for future versions:
* objects (a room or something) instead of just grey background-color
* a desk lamp giving a spotlight on the fish glass
* media to show the spotlight better
alternative version:
* fish lying outside the glass, spotlight on it

PS: The image was rendered with 800*600, AA 0.3, but cut to a smaller size.

I rendered the scene at 1024*768, AA 0.3 in MegaPOV 1.0, this time with
photons enabled, and it took 56min 26sec to render..
In the resulting picture, there are some white or light grey dots in the
usually grey background. Shall I increase the density of photons or decrease
it or how can I get rid of these dots?
I noticed that I didn't use "collect off" in the glass object. Could this be
the reason for the long rendering time and the dots?

well i think it needs some vibrant colors. maybe a bright blue gravel on the
bottom of the fish bowl.

Just one gravel or some gravels on sand?
What's the best way to create gravels and put them into the scene so they
fit in the squere?

What would you like best: The scene as it is or same scene with fish lying
outside the glass?

Back to my problem mentioned in the main thread: Before the stack overflow,
I rendered it several times without errors but the surface of the water was
black. Any ideas why?

Strange. I do not remember any particular change in code parts related to your
script. Are you sure there is no other code ? Would you like to deliver as
small script as possible where 3.5 crash and MegaPOV 1.0 does not crash ? I
mean complete script - not just a part you think cause crash. Do not forget
ini settings used. Thanks in advance.

in all my childhood fish tanks we had a mix of two colors of gravel.
ussually bright blue and hot pink. as for the best way to do it, i'm the
wrong person to look for advice :)
