This is my first POV Ray model in a long long time. I would be interested in
any comments people have. I am actually building this model in the real
world and entering it in an art show. Wish me luck.

Really nice. I'd CSG the heightfield witha box so it has sides, but
that just me.

Which way does it work? Do you give it a picture and it produces the
mock-up? or do you feed it an object and it produces a picture of it?

Good luck.

Peter:
Thank you for your supportive comments, its funny how such a little
statement goes so far when you have been spending so much time on a project.
Regarding "where ya going with this" I am actually having the terrain model
constructed from a special plastic slintering technique and the surface
"painted" on it with a 3D ink jet printer. Then I am entering them in a art
show. I am building a whole set of terrains with different characteristics
and features, the idea being to simulate a small piece of paradise in your
home or office.

That death ray is actually a combo sterilizer and deordorizer. Good for the
environment and good for population control. Actually I wanted it to look
more like light but I am still not happy with it. I need dust particles and
that means media which I am reluctant to mess with.

Well thank you very much for your kind statements. I will add a box to the
terrain so it has sides and doens't float. Thanks for the suggestion. We are
still working on what the screen in the background actually does.

Looks good, where did you get the terrain and texture data from?
Why don't you add some more environment and enter it in the next IRTC, it
looks fairly appropriate for the topic...

Christoph:
I got used a digital elevation model file (DEM) from the USGS. It took a
program called MicroDEM to convert it to a gray scale map for POV Ray. The
color map was the bear, took a lot of work to build it.
What is IRTC? When you say "add some more environment" what do you mean?
thanks

Did you use a data basis like aerial photographs or satellite images?

With more environment i meant some background, maybe a room with windows
and the same landscape outside or so...
