Hi!
I just played around with isosurface for the first time and came up with
this. It's rather simple but I like it so I thought I should post it. It is
a isosurface plane displaced by a bozo with turbulence, lit only by
radiocity.
It took 9.5 hours on my P3 500 to render at 1600x1200 (scaled down version
attached). I will get some new hardware this weekend and I plan to make a
new version then. Any suggestions on how to improve it?
I just noticed a strange thing:
Pixels: 1930005
Where does the extra 10005 pixels come from?

Very nice picture indeed. It reminds me I need a new desktop wallpaper
too :)

Radiosity pretrace pixels ? Did you count how many there were ?

You might enhance the depth a bit with some lighting effects.
Best,

I like it as it is. It has a deep, mysterious, almost underwater feel to
it. Adding any kind of direct lighting would ruin this effect.
BTW, this might look good on a desktop.

Remind me what is inside these psychedlic lamps : the purple_blobby liquid
continuously going up and down with the heat of the lamp... Nice lighting
indeed !

If anyone wants the full 1600x1200 png version (~1Mb) you can get it here:

That must be it, why didn't I think about that.
But at the end of the log the pretrace pixels are not counted:
Render averaged 64.05 PPS over 1920000 pixels

OK, this is just downright fantastic!
It's got pretty colours, it's got complex interesting shapes, it's got a
mysterious mood to it... what hasn't it got? Heck, I might even go download
the large version... (well, maybe). Simple, but very effective. I like it.
How to improve it? How about animating it? ;-)
Dam fine work!
Andrew.
