Cool.

Are you using .df3 files for your clouds, or defining the shapes
procedurally? (You probably already said which it is somewhere in p.b.i,
but I don't see it right now.)

It would be neat to see the clouds move/change, but I'm sure that's
non-trivial. :-)

You know you've been raytracing too long when when people ask you,
"What's up?", you reply "Y", and they say, "I was just wondering", and
you say, "well now you know". (Abbot and Costello at SIGGRAPH?)

It's just a differenced sphere, with type 3 scattering media inside.

I guess it could work by just rotating that sphere, I'll give it a try :)

It did turn out pretty well. Here it is, please enjoy!

Beautiful.

How about several layers of clouds, moving at different speeds? :-)

You know you've been raytracing too long when you have one project you
have been working on for a year that everyone who has seen it exclaims
"It's perfect, beautiful, a master piece" yet you figure you probably
have another year's work to go before it's finished.

(... to which I might add, you know you're on p.b.i (or p.b.a) when you
post your perfect, beautiful masterpiece, look at your feedback the next
morning, and THEN realize that you have another year's work to go before
it's finished ...)

Should be possible, but I'll have to create those clouds first.. And it
might make rendering times jump up a bit, already at 7.5 hours for that
whole animation (200 frames).

I'll see what I can do when I have time.. Damned high school, takes too
much time to do all that homework.

Btw, does anyone have any idea why my videos doesn't seem to work with
WMP? That last one was done with "mencoder "mf://*.png" -mf fps=10 -o
sunsimu3.2.wmv -ovc lavc -lavcopts vcodec=wmv2"

I'm just prodding you to see what you can do. :-) School has been
keeping me from getting any POVing done, myself. (Though I *have* been
playing with OpenGL--we'll see if that goes anywhere interesting.)

Just a wild guess--maybe you're encoding at a lower frame rate that WMP
likes? All the pages that Google pulls up talk about rates of 20-25 FPS.

You know you've been raytracing too long when you tell stories to your
kids that include stuff like "Once there was a polygon mesh who was very
sad because he was only Gourard shaded."
