Apologies if this is in the wrong area.
I downloaded the new RC of POV-Ray (expires June 7th) as the old one had
expired and there is no non-beta version of POV-Ray that (a) runs in OS X,
and (b) doesn't die when the "open file" dialogue is run. Given the age of
my computer, I can't afford the performance hit of running in Classic (i.e.
emulated old MacOS), and I'd really like to be able to use the open
dialogue box.
Anyway, when I try to render one of my existing scene files created with the
previous RC, I get these errors (replace the carets with upside-down
carets; I can't figure out how to generate those):
Cannot process command-line at '' due to a parse error.
This is not a valid command-line. Check the command-line for syntax errors,
correct them, and try again!
Valid command-line switches are explained in detail in the reference part of
the documentation
Newly-created scenes render just fine; it's ones created with the previous
release candidate that are broken, so far as I can tell. For what it's
worth, I couldn't find a section in the documentation on using the command
line, and the GUI for this version of the program makes no reference to
command line syntax.
It would be nice if I could edit my old scene files without copying their
contents into a new scene. While this is a valid workaround, it is hardly
elegant.

Apologies for responding to my own post, but I just discovered that it's not
the scene file that's the problem; it's all of the output formatting
profiles I created (e.g. create a 640x480 PNG file with full quality).
Setting all of these manually gets around the problem, as does recreating
the profiles.
