w2k - Athlon1.3GHz - 384MB - Pov3.5B6
I have just tested this with one scene yet, but it is replicable...
The scene contains some timeconsuming stuff (media)
I render it in 512x384 AA0.2
if I press the stop-button before the first rendered line is displayed, than it
crashes (pvengine.exe created an error, windows creates an error-report and POV gets
closed)
I will see, if I can provide more information ...

I have seen the same error a few times. I wasn't quite sure when it was when
it happened, but it did always seem to be when it was just starting off and
I stopped it. It was also a problem when stopping the render during
radiosity pre-trace.

The pretrace stop still crashes with the beta.6.icl.win32
I can also get it to crash if I stop and restart a render too quickly and I
guess it does happen at the first line, or at least when the render window
begins to display something.

I've been seeing this error as well, but hadn't been able to figure out just
what was actually needed to replicate it.

Some further tests done by Tony[B] and yours truly have revealed that it
happens on Windows 2000 when outputing to .PNG, but not when using .BMP
And does not happen at all when using Windows 98.

I have Win 98 and have been getting it, with BMPs I believe. I'm not sure
it's consistent, though.

Well, it sure is for me. If I stop renders with radiosity, before the
mosaicing is done, and when using PNG output, it crashes. There are two
lines that say "Problem with... [something]", but the window dissapears
before I can finish reading them.

Wasn't it Francois Labreque who wrote:

This is the same thing that was initially reported in beta 4
http://news.povray.org/3bb4605d$1@news.povray.org
With my W98se and beta 6 it still happens under the same conditions,
namely
When the output format is PNG
And the render is stopped during radiosity pre-trace or while rendering
lines 0 to 2.
The size and speed of the image doesn't matter. If stopped before line 3
it always crashes. If stopped on or after line 3 it doesn't.

I presume you were using PNG output ?
There was a problem in this case with PNG output, which has now been fixed.

Sorry, not true. I get stack fault/gpf whenever rendering is stopped prior
to the first line being drawn, usually due to a protracted parse.
