Hi.

Last night I had the first chance to familiarize myself with
UV-Mapping and related stuff.
(Thanks to low workload at christmas time ;-)

First I tried a bottle with a jpg label on it and it worked fine, then
I used a gif, because I wanted to set a transmit value to a certain
color, but moray refused to show the image in its UV view. I tried
this with different gif settings (standard, no transparency ...) but
none worked.
Only jpg and bmp are shown in the UV view.

Most of the time the gif was rendered, but editing is quite difficult.

Is it just me?
Or are there some unresolved issues with gif?

GIF is not supported in Moray.

Since when?

In Load-Image Map File-Open-Dialog says:
Filetype: TGA, PNG, JPG, GIF, BMP

You better remove it.

OK, now I know.

OK, maybe I should rephrase it: Moray has never been able to read
images in GIF format. It does support the GIF filetype as a
pass-through because POV-Ray can read it. But since Moray is not
freeware, the Unisys licensing issues have caused me to not support
it.

So, you can select a GIF file for an image map, heightfield or
whatever, but Moray will not read the image data.

AFAIK the patent has expired already so there shouldn't be any problem
in supporting it.
