Idea? Yes. Composition? Still working on it. To be honest, I'm never that
worried about my ranking. I like the irtc for a) making me focus on a particular
topic/image and b) the time limit means I actually get to finish an image.
Without the irtc all I'd ever have was a series of WIPs.

Nice - or a battle mech playing a video game? And btw when was the last time you
entered the irtc? I've always thought of you as one of those guys who's too busy
with pov to actually render anything.... ;)

Actually, thinking about it, the above might work (iwo jima). Thermometer as
flag, pill boxes, etc. as soldiers. Hmmm....

I also think this is a very good principle. An image should speak by
itself, without needing to explain it separately.
(Of course the image can have secondary details which open to the viewer
only after reading the description, and this is, in fact, a very good thing,
but the main topic should be clear from the image itself.)

Which is not to say that the viewer shouldn't have to think for themselves
now and then.

How about a white blood cell fighting an AIDS virus cell...?

I thought white blood cells couldn't fight the AIDS virus. That's the problem, I
think. I might be wrong.

You're right. In that case it would be the AIDS virus consuming the white blood
cells. Mmm- or maybe a white blood-cell armed with an automatic syringe shooting
explosive capsules....
