It is hard to work with at first, because it is so vague. Most of my early
ideas were formed strictly from dichotomies: Yin and Yang, Black and White,
Up and Down... Baseball and Football.

But any contrast works. One of my ideas (which I will make public probably
because I won't be able to do it) is Robert Frosts poem "The Road Not
Traveled." There's a contrast. Anything will work. Beatles vs. the Bee Gees,
Elvis Vs. Jesus (They compare and contrast in a spooky way).
There is a tunnel here in Portland that one end is deep in downtown, full of
concrete and asphalt. Go through the tunnel and you are deep in forest. Even
Mac and Windows offers lots of contrast.

So, you're finally going to enter, suitable theme and newly acquired speed
(unless the the job/real life gets inbetween)?

Yes, my question too, does "contrast" always imply dichotomy, or can three
things be used in "contrast"?

You could have more than two thing, so a garden with winter in one corner,
spring, summer and autumn in the others for example.

If it is a clear contrast, I don't see why not. Of course, I'm not an expert in
this. All I know is that I will need ot maintain an open mind when voting this
round. I usually get harsh with "Concept" and I haven't found a good way to vote
that section well.

My latest voting system works like this:

concept 0-9 = % off-topic in varying degrees
concept 10 = on-topic 100%
concept 20 = defines the topic

I then use this percentage as a multiplier for the other scores. So an image
that gets 5 for concept, being largely off topic, will only get 50% of the
scores I would have awarded in art and technical for an on-topic image of
the same quality. Any image getting 10 or greater for topic gets the full
100% of marks in art and technical.

In other words, scores less than 10 in topic will have a detrimental effect
on my scores for the other catagories. Scores 10 or greater do not affect my
scoring for other catagories.

I am personnally working on the contrast of the line VS curves, ie curved lines!
Should this work?

I've started working on my new scene... it is actually almost finished rendering
(the final!) and I've started making an animation, should take 1-2 weeks of
render ;)

There is a book called something like Flatlanders, your idea reminds me
of the book.

Gee, I've only just started mine, I think it's going to take me weeks to get
it looking right... I'll probably end up doing what I always do and get to
the end and think *hmm, I'm not happy with it, I'm not going to enter it,
I'll wait till next round when I have a better topic and more time and try
again then* hehe...

I'm not even sure whether people would see the contrast in mine either, at
least I do... :\

Lance.

My concept idea I'm working on presently has the following contrasts in
it....

Rich/Poor
Free/Slave
New/Old
Dressed/Naked
Smooth/Rough
HighTech/LowTech

I'm sure I'll add more contrasts as I go along.
