Goa/Israeli trance or instrumental/guitar rock. Oddly enough this is
music that I usually don't listen to (save Yngwie Malmsteen's Trilogy
which I *always* listen to while I shave). This is music for the wee
hours as the energy and the rhythm keep me awake. Under normal
circumstances I would prefer a variety of relaxing music like (in no
particular order): anything classical, Vangelis, Jean Michelle Jarre,
Pink Floyd (but not 'Ummagumma'!!!), Yanni, Al di Meola, The Guitar
Trio (Paco, John and Al), Loreena McKennit, Mike Oldfield, Johnny Lee
Hooker or any other bluesman I happen to come by, Goran Bregovich,
church music (usually Bulgarian or Russian Orthodox but I like some
Catholic works such as Pergolesi's Stabat Mater, which I remember from
my days in a professional choir), Scorpions, Bulgarian Folk music
(traditional!), Enigma...

I have an Astral Projection album which I enhanced by modulating it
with certain brainwave patterns said to increase awakeness, creativity
and concentration. It works for me, it might not work for someone
else. (Don't ask any further, if I tell you more I'll have to kill you
:) ) I listen to it when I have to stay awake in the night and study
or work. It really helps.

Whew, that was a long one :)
