You put your text directly after the text of the post you are replying 
to, sometimes don't trim away excess quoted material, and provide no 
sign which part is being quoted and which is your text.

Most newsreaders put "> " in front of each quoted line, and color-code 
lines starting with ">" as quotes, making things much easier to keep 
track of.
