All files Windows copies from a CD are marked as read-only. It's a
Windows thing, as annoying as Linux treating almost all files from a
shared Windows drive as executables. I've lost a lot of hair when I
tried to recover ICQ and OE data from backup, as they kept coming up
with stupid error messages (Can't create default profile, Insufficient
disk space etc.) attrib -r /s c:\ fixed it :)
It's a lesson one has to learn the hard way. It won't happen again.
