Non-Uniform Rational B-Splines.
They sort of do for 3d surfaces what Bezier Curves do for 2d lines. The
NURBS surface has a number of control points to which it is attracted,
and the control points can have different strengths (hence the "non-
uniform"). The higher the strength, the more the surface is attracted to
the control point and the more sharply it bends.
In a graphical modelling program, manipulating the control points can be
a bit like moulding modelling clay.
