I recal I once had this proble, but afair after resart it was gone.

But anyway I can confirm, that this problem exists.

Btw, turining OFF all console output *dramaticly* improves waste of time 
before/after render. This waste is only about 1 second, but i.e. one 
animation was rendering in 300x200px at 20 fps with is almost real-time 
with NO console output, and about 1 fps with default settings.

(Scene was ofcourse *very* simple it was just a test of movment before 
starting real render, on Athlon 2000 GHz)
