Ah alright - probably my failing memory. Might explain why my search
turned up nothing useful.

So, mostly you are looking to introduce noise in the resultant image and
more noise the lower your ISO 'film' quality? If close, there is 'crand'
built into POV-Ray itself - but the noise introduce is not predictive
today.

Hmm, I wonder if the cells pattern scaled really small as a filter
pigment on a mostly transparent plane in front of your camera might work
- at least as a way to introduce some noise over the whole image?
Suppose ideally we'd only activate the ISO feature in the in focus
regions...

Aside:

My search did turn up:

http://megapov.inetart.net/manual-1.1/global_settings.html#film_exposure

which looks like an idea worth me playing with for a while as I've been
spending time trying to come up with ways to avoid high dynamic, channel
ranges internal to POV-Ray (povr).
