Hi Michael, long time no see.

The comment about not having any walls was because I've lost all my data
from the last three years due to a HDD crash. I think I still have my
dance studio though. But I don't want to get distracted.

I created the df3s by slicing the cloth mesh horizontally in a vertical
series. Then combining the slices with jr's tga2df3_2 to create three
df3s, one for each colour channel.
For the render they were combined as three media's in one material.
BTW the UV'd tartan robe did not work out. It was too patchy some parts
were over saturated and other parts were invisible. I'll try another UV
mapping with a different image.

You can find the source code and windows exe in
povray.binaries.utilities under the title tga2df3_2
