BTW, did you still get spammed with the PNG-related warning message in
the test where you only (thought to have) removed the 30,000 declare
lines and left the image size unchanged?

Because that would indeed indicate that the lines had not been removed.
That message absolutely, positively show /only/ whenever an "image_map
{...}" statement is encountered, /not/ when an image_map is duplicated
internally.
