Heh.
Like it or not, though, for technical writing, there are two style guides
that are the standards - the Microsoft guide, and the IBM guide.
Microsoft is more commonly used in software AIUI, though the IBM guide
is, I think, more established.
Microsoft defers to the Chicago Manual of Style for most non-technology
things, and Chicago (interestingly) defers to Eric S. Raymond's "Jargon
file" section on writing.
