A few years ago, I posted a render of Sirius (alpha Canis Majoris) that 
was based on a Hubble image.  I have updated the image with observed 
surface temperatures of Sirius A and Sirius B, and made some variations 
on theme.  The scenes were rendered with UberPOV for glare desaturation.

sirius.jpg is simply the original scene with the updated colors.

sirius-sr.jpg is spectrally rendered using black body curves.  The 
diffraction is scaled proportionally to the wavelength.

sirius-rgb is rendered in RGB, with the diffraction of the red, green, 
and blue channels scaled proportionally to the wavelength of the channel 
color.
