I do *not* confirm this.

What I get when I follow Friedrich's instructions is:

//--------------------------------------
texture { pigment{ Red }0.5 scale 0.1 }
//--------------------------------------

My editor preferences setting are virginal, untouched from installation 
of 3.6 maybe 3.5.
