Edge detector (as pattern), sort of.
Just a quick (and bad) test, 100% SDL, 100% CSG.
Ambient & Diffuse : <1,0>,<1/2,1/2>,<0,1>
I do not like:
- it's not a map (and a map cannot be used)
- the distribution in space (crude square/line are visible)
- it uses a lot of objects, hence memory!
- the sampling is limited at 256 entries... here with 125.
How ? so far just with average pattern and many object patterns (with a
bit of translate).

Software is like dirt - it costs time and money to change it and move it
around.
Just because you can't see it, it doesn't weigh anything,
and you can't drill a hole in it and stick a rivet into it doesn't mean
it's free.
