Oh, that's cute. If you include a URL which ends with ".pdf", 
Thunderbird thinks that you meant to attach a PDF file.

What, like you couldn't possibly get the parser (which already detects 
URLs) to ignore any attachment-like keywords if they occur inside a URL? :-P
