Aside from the hard work that went into the plane model (and its 
texturing and the flame effects), some methods that aren't at all hard 
helped things out.

* First, he shook the camera a bit.  Part of the reason that a lot of 
the animation work seen on this server is not all that interesting is 
because the camera work makes it bland.  A bit of randomness in the 
camera really ups the level of realism.

* Second, any problems with the detail in the ground are solved by the 
clouds, which make it hard to get a good look at the ground. 
Admittedly, a real task force flying a combat mission would be flying 
under the clouds (if over friendly territory) or over them (if over 
enemy territory), and not flying *in* them...

It's an excellent piece of work.
