Some time ago I asked here if anybody knew a working free NNTP server
(because my ISP decided to shut down theirs).

  Back then it seemed that freenews.netfront.net would be a good one.
I could read and post, and it had all the groups I needed.

  However, it seems that I was too hasty. I don't know if it's deliberate or
whether it's due to some odd connection problems, but it feels like that
server has some kind of braindead banning system. Whenever I make something
like 4 or 5 posts (in the span of maybe 10 minutes), it seems like I'm put
on a ban list which allows me to read posts normally but not post anything
(if I try to post all I get is a "connection timed out" error, even though
I can still read new articles just fine). This ban (deliberate or not) seems
to last at least for a *week* before I can post anything again. I can read
everything, but I can't post anything (always "connection timed out" when
trying to post).

  That server is thus basically unusable.

  Does anyone know of a free NNTP server that actually works?

  I tried nntp.aioe.org, but it's even worse. You can read but you can't
post anything. The server lies to the client that the posting succeeded,
but nothing appears on the group, ever. The post is just silently swallowed.
