Not impossible, but more likely it's just doing what you specify
in the scene ;) With glossy effect, do you mean a phong or specular
finish, or some form of actual reflection? If you apply a glossy
to the sky itself unrealistic results are to be expected as a
real sky just doesn't reflect much light.
