Google "(24 cm / 1 mile) in degrees".

If you want more accuracy then it's going to depend on whether the 1 mile 
side is the one opposite the 90 degrees or not.

Google:

"asin(24 cm / 1 mile) in degrees"

or

"atan(24 cm / 1 mile) in degrees"
