BTW, yes, that's a common technique for getting precise curves. 
Everybody has their best hand positioning for drawing precise curves. 
Didn't thought of that with a tablet.  It indeed feels a bit awkward to 
not have this possibility in Gimp so far, but I've managed to simply do 
everything on the wrist movement alone.
