While that might be the case, distributed computing for helping companies 
patent drugs that will be milked for maximum profit doesn't seem to helpful. 
Contributing cycles to help Monsanto create seeds that they then charge poor 
farmers for having blown into their field doesn't make much sense to me.

and the other result pages from the other completed projects lets me know 
that the raw data isn't released to the public in any sort of timely way, 
which tells me it's going to be used primarily for the benefit of humanity, 
but primarily for the benefit of the researchers.

The Human Proteome Folding bit was about the only piece where they're 
actually showing any results to the general public.

Nobody wants to spend an hour going thru the web site in order to give 
charity. You're asking for people to give something without getting anything 
personal in return, then making it difficult for people to find answers to 
their questions about the process.
