It was rather disturbing plugging in my USB HD, getting the little "Dadink!" 
sound, waiting a minute or two, and then having it show up as "USB device" 
but nothing else.  Turns out I'd misplugged the drive, so it wasn't actually 
connected to the interface.  Interesting effect.
